Unreal. It’s like in the videos of warzones where an IED is dismantled. Like someone is setting of a ton of explosives. This is the view from nearby Volcán de Acatenango, only a few kilometers from the active Fuego volcano. The day before we hiked in the rain all day to reach base camp and in the early morning we reached the summit of Acatenango just before sunrise. A few days before we hiked up Acatenango we could see the lava flows from the town of Antigua, now we were face to face with this majestic beauty and it definitely lived up to its name.
